Blog EntryPicture Perfect ~ WaterFeb 6, '08 1:11 PM
for everyone
This a picture from the floods of Mother's Day 2006. This is the back of the girl's school at the edge of the parking lot. The flood waters have eroded the ground under the pavement and it has caved in. Yes that is my daughter walking through the flood water, no I didn't take this particular picture although I took many others, and NO I was not happy about it when I saw it. LOL

Welcome to

P I C T U R E   P E R F E C T

The theme this week is:

'W A T E R'

in all its splendour, and all its forms!

And now some rules for the newbies

(not that anyone pays them the slightest bit of attention)

~ Each week a theme will be posted up on Wednesday, and you are invited to put up your best picture with that theme in mind, it should be just

 ONE and ORIGINAL,

 i.e not off the internet,

Then come back and post a comment on this page
so that everyone can link to your blog and see your pic.

By all means mention your camera and lens used, and if the picture has been altered or enhanced in anyway! Out of the box thinking is encouraged!!

Please open your page for viewing for all for that day...and then visit as many others as you can! Try and post a decent size pic on your blog page, so much is lost if the pic is too small or too big.

The entries will close at midnight on Friday.

Play nice....and have fun out there!

Flooding, what a tragedy... And yes, I bet you were upset... While my husband and I were married, I cannot tell you how many times our river swelled and they had to go rescue some kyak or kid from swimming in the river. The currents are very dangerous when it gets deep... Nevertheless all the garbage/ sewage/ rats it brings down river... UGH!!It is a neat picture of the splendor of water and it's properties tho' and I am glad you shared it... thanks... I will have mine up probably tomorrow if ya get a chance and want to stop by my little spot in this world... Happy viewing and have a great week, Thanks for the visit to your flood, lilangelwolf

Water can be devastating... it is amazing how something that can be so tranquil can cause so much harm too.

If you guys watched the two hour extreme makeover home edition the week before Superbowl Sunday the footage of the flooding was from my hometown not the family that they were building for. There town flooded too but nothing like ours did, I guess they didn't have any footage of their own town (which is about 30+ miles from me) to show.

Oh YUCK.. does she know.. she was actually walking in sewer water?? Yepper daisies.. I always cringe when I see folks walking in flood water.. they NEVER think about it.. but.. DUH.. it's SEWER WATER. Ewwwwwwwwwwwww...
mom2mels wrote on Feb 6
that is amazing, we had a flood like that in our area, most of the water towns still have markers were the water level went to, but that was in 1993.

and ewww on her walking through that!!

i'm a water sign, so i am drawn to the water. Gaia's fury can be as wonderous as Her grace.

OH MAN! I was mad when you said it was your daughter. I wanted to step right into that picture and pull her out! LOL. But you explained yourself...whew....I gotta go calm down LOL

Me too! Believe me I explained the condition of flood waters to her and how filthy it is and even though this was at the end of it when the water wasn't moving as fast, I made sure she knew how stupid it was and how easily water can take you feet out from under you. Heck it can take a whole car down stream.

Sounds like something my daughter would do, too ... and then they wonder *why* we turn prematurely gray!! Hugs!

Great shot although the story behind it wasn't good at all. Water can bring joys and sorrow for sure.

She was with her older sister this day (she took the picture) who also caught hell for letting her walk to the other side!

Water, water everywhere!! This IS a great shot....BUT she didn't have to walk through it to show how bad it was!!! Just the way teens are-----they just don't think!!! Or possibly because it "looked" quiet and serene (and probably "looked" clean to them as well)

Alot of areas got hit bad with the flooding that year. I know my parents area (about 40 mins out of Chicago) took quite a bit of damage. Amazing how water can be both beautiful and dangerous too.
